Dear Parents,

There seems to be some questions regarding the playing time your child should be getting during a game.  Below is an  excerpt from our by-laws that defines our 50% rule.   This rule has been in our by-laws since the inception of the EYFL.   We strive to make the playing time your child is receiving as equitable as we can.   If you do not think you child is  being played according to our rules, please address your concerns to one of our Board Members.

7. Playing Time
A. Each player is required to play 50% of the game. This shall be interpreted as a player having a position on either offense or defense and playing each and every play on that team. The only exceptions to these rules are:
1. The number of players on a team exceeds twenty-two (22). The coaching staff will be responsible to substitute the extra players to ensure maximum playing time.
2. An injury prevents a player from participating.
3. The coaching staff uses two(2) players to shuffle offensive plays into the game. In this case the player bringing the play into the game will remain in the game for that play.
4. Disciplinary reasons, lack of practice time, or a player regularly misses practices. The head coach is responsible for notifying the player's parents, the AD, and the opposing coach prior to start of the game.
B. If a head coach has a safety concern about a player or has a player who does not wish to participate as outlined, the head coach will notify the AD. The player will be evaluated and a decision will be made as to whether to remove the player from the team or require the player to resign from the league.
C. It is the responsibility of the head coach to abide by the participation rules. In the event the head coach does not follow these rules, the EYFL Board will take disciplinary actions.
